Phase It is a stand-alone quilt block originally featured as one of nine blocks by nine designers in the 2023 Solstice Sampler on Instagram (#SolsticeSampler2023). The block would look wonderful as a wall hanging or a pillow. It could also be made into a quilt by repeating the pattern the desired number of times (larger sizes are not included in the pattern).

I designed Phase It with the cycle of the sun in mind. The “analemma” is the shape that is created when the sun is photographed at the same time of day from the exact same location and angle over the course of the year, with each sun position overlayed on the same photograph.
The shape is similar to the infinity symbol ♾️ but will be slightly different depending on where on the earth you’re located.
